THE LONE WOLF
Viggo is a Wolf who’s anything but big and bad. He’d rather play sweet songs on his mandolin than huff and puff.
One day, three tiny orphaned piglets turn up outside his door. Gentle Viggo understands what it’s like to feel alone and afraid, so he takes them in. He knows he has to keep them safe from the other wolves in the forest - but he can't do it all by himself.
So Viggo and the piglets set off on a quest to find a hero to protect them, gathering a merry band of misfits along the way. None of them is brave or strong enough to defeat the wolves But could the hero they seek be closer than they thinK?
PRAISE FOR THE LONE WOLF:
* “Loosely hatched, digitally enhanced watercolor-and-ink illustrations drop readers into a forest aglow with jewel-toned enchantments, while crisp linework gives the scenes a subtle emotional weight. . . A story with both tenderness and teeth, it asserts that intentional care is not only the basis for community, but a sturdy defense as well.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review
“This story, centered on an adorably gentle soul who dares to be himself, is a righteous ode to chosen families and a wry rebuke to tribalism. Working in ink, watercolor, and Photoshop, Marcero is equally adept at capturing the cozy (as when Viggo is at home playing the mandolin for his adoptees) and the comical . . . A gratifying tale of improvised family and unlikely heroism.” —Kirkus Reviews
